When to stay with PolyBuzz

you are on Android, or happy to use polybuzz.ai in Safari on an iPhone, and you like its voice listening and image generation. Your account, characters and chats are still there on the website, and the free Standard model costs nothing.

Why people are looking now

PolyBuzz's iPhone app left the App Store on October 15, 2026, and neither PolyBuzz nor Apple has said why. The Android app and the website still work, so iPhone users can carry on in Safari. What we know about the removal is kept up to date with each check.

Before that, the usual reasons were cost and rules. In our free-account check of the Android app, a new chat opened on a paid chat style, each reply cost two Opals more than the one before, and the free Opals ran out at message 17; switching back to the free Standard model kept the chat going. PolyBuzz's terms also ban sexual content, which sends adults who want it elsewhere.

If you want an app on your iPhone

Character.AI, Talkie (listed as Talkie Lab), Janitor AI (listed as Janitor: Interactive Stories) and Chai all had live App Store apps when we checked on October 16, 2026. Character.AI and Talkie are the closest to PolyBuzz for everyday character chat; Janitor AI and Chai allow adult text for over-18s.

SpicyChat and CrushOn work in any browser on an iPhone. Like PolyBuzz now, you can add either site to the home screen from Safari's share menu, which gives it an icon like an app.

If you paid for PolyBuzz inside the iPhone app, that membership is an Apple subscription and can keep renewing even though the app has gone. Cancel it in the iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions, before you pay for another app.

If cost is the problem

Character.AI and Janitor AI are the two large platforms where free chat has no per-message cost and no daily cap. Character.AI pays for that with ads and slow mode at busy times; Janitor AI with a standard model and a shorter memory on its free tier. Talkie is free with ads but has a daily chat limit, and Chai gives about 70 free messages a day.

If the filter is the problem

PolyBuzz's terms prohibit pornographic and sexual content, so any platform built for adult roleplay is looser. Janitor AI permits adult content between consenting adult characters, SpicyChat and CrushOn are made for it, and Chai's terms allow adult-oriented text. All of them are 18+ only and still ban sexual content involving minors.

If memory is the problem

PolyBuzz sells memory by tier: its paywall marks Ultimate as the only plan with permanent memory. Character.AI gives every account pinned messages and Story Memory, SpicyChat lets you edit memories directly, CrushOn's paid plans add longer memory, and on Janitor AI paying members get five times the free context.

What you give up by leaving

PolyBuzz does several things well for a free app. It combines a big community character library with voice listening and image generation, and its paid tiers add a long list of models. Character.AI is the only alternative here with a library of similar size and live voice; Talkie comes closest on images and voice together. The adult platforms are mostly text.

If the App Store is the only reason you are leaving, the website may be enough: it uses the same account, and PolyBuzz's FAQ says the web version adds free image generation and animated characters.
