Candy.ai in the app: what we found
We used the same fixed script we use for every app: four personal facts in the first two messages (a name, a home city, a dog's name and a birthday), small talk, then a recall question. Settings were left at their defaults; there is no model picker, and the chat settings button says "Premium only feature". The free account ran out after five messages to a character, so the full script could not run. We tried it on Kenzie Whitaker, the least explicit of the twelve featured characters, then ran a five-message version on Anaïs, a Romance Mode character met outside a Paris boutique, with the recall question as message 5.
- Five messages per character
- The sixth message to a character was not sent: the typed text was cleared and an "Upgrade to Unlock Unlimited Messages" pop-up opened. A new character allowed five more, which we saw on three characters in a row, in the standard chat and in Romance Mode alike. No counter or balance was shown before the allowance ran out. Candy's help centre describes the five messages as a total across all characters; on this account they were counted per character.
- Upsells in the chat
- A banner above every chat reads "Unlimited messages · Photos, video, voice & calls" with an Unlock button, from before the first message. A "Premium 70% OFF" button sits in the header of every page. In Romance Mode the sixth message opened a second pop-up, "Upgrade to Unlock the Full Experience".
- Memory: four facts at message 5, not 18
- Asked in character at message 5, Anaïs gave all four facts: "Sam from Leeds, with a dog named Pickle and a birthday on March 3rd... how could I forget?" That is three messages after the facts were given. The free tier stops each chat at five messages, so recall at message 18, where we test every other app, could not be checked.
- Auto Memory starts after 20 messages
- Each chat's menu has an Auto Memory panel: "Memories will start after sending 20 messages". With five messages per character, a free account never reaches it.
- Romance Mode
- Romance Mode is a relationship game. Levels from Acquaintance through Friends, Flirting and Girlfriend to Soulmate unlock locations by chatting, or can be skipped with tokens: "Skip to Friends" cost 35.
- The plans page
- Signed in on the free account, the plans page offered three terms: 12 Months ("70% OFF", "BEST VALUE", highlighted), 3 Months ("35% OFF") and 1 Month ("29% OFF"), which had a lower first-month price. Every card shows a monthly rate; the 12- and 3-month cards show the regular monthly price struck through and no upfront total. The table below gives what each term is billed. No free trial was offered. Among Premium's benefits the page lists "Unlimited text messages" and 100 tokens a month, and says "Charge shown as 'EverAI' on your bank statement".
- Sign-up and age check
- Sign-up takes an e-mail and password. The age check is a click-through "I am over 18" gate, with no date of birth or ID. Onboarding asks only for a nickname and a gender. There is no NSFW setting: the site is adult by default.
- Training on chats is on by default
- Settings, AI & Moderation Training: "Allow your conversations and prompts to be used to improve Candy. If you'd like to opt out, toggle this off." The switch was on for the new account.
- Deleting the account
- The Danger Zone at the bottom of Settings has a "Delete account" link, to "permanently delete this account and all of its data".

One run, one day, in a desktop browser through a US VPN. The recall answer came at message 5 on a different character from the main chat, so it shows very short-range recall and cannot be compared with the message-18 results in our other reviews. What 1-2 star reviewers complain about
We found no one- or two-star reviews of Candy.ai to count on : it has no app on the US App Store or Google Play, and Trustpilot had no reviews of it we could read. Complaints about web-only apps tend to live on Reddit and forums instead, which we do not count.
What Candy AI is
Candy AI is a companion site built around pictures as much as words. You pick one of more than a hundred ready-made characters, split into girls, guys and anime, or you design your own with a builder that sets looks, personality, voice and hobbies. Chat is the core, and around it sit voice messages, voice calls (still labelled beta), generated images, short videos made from those images, and paid photo packs that Candy calls My Private Content.
It is a website, not a store app. Candy's help centre says plainly that there is no native iOS or Android app; on a phone you open the site and add it to your home screen, which gives an app-like icon and notifications. That matters for two reasons: you cannot pay through Apple or Google, and any app on the App Store with Candy in its name is from a different developer.
Is Candy AI worth it?
It depends on what you want from it. Candy AI is worth paying for if the visual side is the point: 18+ images, image-to-video clips and the Live Action scenes are what the subscription is built to sell, and paid on the yearly term it costs less month for month than any other adult image companion we track. The yearly plan works out at under a third of the monthly price and renews at the same price and term.
It is harder to justify for text alone. If you mainly want long roleplay, SpicyChat and Janitor AI let you chat for free without a published message cap, while Candy stops free users after five messages. If memory is what you care about, Kindroid and Nomi document far more about how their companions remember you. And if you pay monthly, Candy loses its price advantage entirely: the monthly plan sits mid-pack for the category.
The other thing to weigh is tokens. Unlimited chat is included, but every image, video, voice call and photo pack draws on a monthly allowance of 100 tokens, and Candy does not publish how many tokens each action costs or what top-up packs cost before you sign in. Anyone who generates images daily should expect to buy top-ups on top of the subscription.
What the free account gets you
Very little, by design. The help centre lists three things a free account can do: send up to five chat messages across all characters, create one custom character and generate one image. The terms of service say the same about messages and add that further use needs a subscription. There is no separate time-limited trial, whatever the homepage copy about a free trial suggests.
In practice the five messages are counted per character, not across the account: on a free account, each new character we opened allowed five more before the upgrade prompt. That is still enough to see how a character writes and how the site feels, not enough to judge memory or image quality over time. Treat the free account as a look around, then decide on the yearly or monthly plan.
Premium, Premium Plus and tokens
Premium is one subscription sold on three terms: monthly, quarterly and yearly, all on the website. Each includes unlimited text chat, the ability to create your own characters, 18+ images and videos, Live Action, and 100 tokens a month. Tokens arrive on the day of the month you first subscribed, and yearly subscribers get their 100 every month even though they pay once a year.
Premium Plus is a newer, higher tier described in the help centre: 330 tokens a month, a 10 percent bonus on token top-ups for quarterly and yearly subscribers, early access to new characters, user personas, 20 memory slots and cloned chats. Its price is not shown on the public subscriptions page, only in checkout after you sign in, so we cannot list it yet. The full breakdown is on the Candy AI pricing page.
One point in the small print is worth knowing. The terms of service say unused tokens expire when a cancelled subscription runs out, while a newer help-centre article says cancelling does not delete your token balance. The terms are the contract, so plan to use tokens before a cancelled plan ends.
Who runs Candy AI
The terms of service and privacy notice both name EverAI Limited, incorporated in Malta and registered with the Malta Business Registry, with an address in Santa Venera. Charges appear on bank statements as EverAI, which is the only name most people will see outside the site. The same company appears as EverAI Ltd trading as AI Realities in a ruling by the UK's advertising regulator.
That ruling, from August 2026, upheld a complaint about a Candy AI Facebook ad that promised a girlfriend you could control and who would do anything for you. The regulator found the ad harmful and irresponsible because it objectified women, and told the company the ad must not run again in that form. It concerns advertising, not user data, but it is the one formal action against the operator we could source.
The terms also bar access from China and Singapore and say Candy uses technical measures to enforce that.
What Candy AI allows and what it bans
Adult content is the product: the subscription page lists 18+ images and videos among Premium's benefits, and the site is for adults only. The blocked content policy sets the limits. It bans anything involving or resembling minors, images meant to look like real people, non-consensual intimate imagery, impersonation of celebrities, hate speech, and content that promotes violence or self-harm.
Enforcement is automated first. Candy says its own language-model moderation scans for rule breaks, and when something is flagged, staff or authorised partners can read the flagged content and other content on the same account. The help centre carries two articles for users who were flagged over messages they consider harmless.
Age is checked by self-declaration: an age gate asks visitors to confirm they are over 18. The underage policy adds that Candy may introduce further checks where local law requires them, and the privacy notice already covers the results of third-party age checks.
Privacy, deletion and refunds
Candy's privacy notice says it will not sell personal data without consent. It does use conversations, after de-identification, to train its models, including human review of those conversations, and it relies on legitimate interest for that rather than asking you. Settings do have an "AI & Moderation Training" switch to opt out, but it is on for a new account. It also says third-party language-model providers may receive the content of your messages. Account data is kept for three years after your last activity unless you ask for deletion sooner; payment records are kept for ten years under tax law.
You can delete the account yourself from the Danger Zone at the bottom of Settings, and doing so also cancels an active subscription. Deleting a single chat is cruder: the help centre says clearing a chat's history also wipes that character's memory of the conversation.
Refunds are narrow. A subscription can be refunded within 24 hours of payment only if you have used 20 tokens or fewer, token packs only if unused, and only for card payments. Users in the EU and UK also have a 14-day withdrawal right on their first purchase, which does not cover renewals.
Ratings and reputation
There is no store rating to report. Candy has no App Store or Google Play listing, and Trustpilot's page for candy.ai now says the profile has been removed for going against its guidelines. The subscriptions page shows its own ratings claim, which we do not use. Our score therefore leaves out the user-sentiment component and scales the other seven, as the methodology describes.
What the score rewards is clear from the breakdown above: the cheapest paid route in its class, adult content allowed, and documented memory, voice and images. What holds it back is a web-only platform, a free tier of five messages per character and privacy terms that allow training on your chats.
Who Candy.ai suits, and who it doesn't
Suits: adults who want 18+ images and short videos of their companion alongside chat, are happy to use a website rather than an app, and will pay on the yearly term.
Look elsewhere if: you want mostly text roleplay, a generous free tier, an app from the App Store or Google Play, or a privacy policy that keeps your chats out of model training. SpicyChat is free for text, Kindroid and Nomi document much deeper memory, and Intimate has proper store apps.

UK ad regulator upholds complaint against a Candy AI Facebook ad
The Advertising Standards Authority ruled that a Candy AI ad from EverAI Ltd (trading as AI Realities), promising a girlfriend you could 'control' who would 'do anything for you', was harmful, irresponsible and likely to cause serious and widespread offence by objectifying women. It breached CAP Code rules 1.3, 4.1 and 4.9 and must not appear again in that form.
