What made the list
- The app's own terms, content policy or help pages allow adult text chat for adult users.
- Its free plan renews or never runs out: unlimited free chat, or a daily allowance. A fixed number of messages, a time-limited trial or a card-required trial does not qualify.
- We could source the free limit, the paid prices and the content policy from the app's own pages and date them.
- Ranking follows app-store ratings where 25 or more exist; apps without a qualifying store rating follow, in no order of merit. Affiliate payouts play no part.

Free limits: what each app states, and what we saw
Measured: one free account running our fixed chat script (up to 18 messages), on the date shown; each app's review has the full check and screenshots. Stated: the app's own pricing, help or terms page.
Side by side
Every price is dated on the app's review. Scores follow our published rubric.
Three kinds of free
Free plans in this category come in three shapes. Unlimited text on a smaller model: Janitor AI lets free users chat without a cap on its standard model, and SpicyChat publishes no message cap on its free tier. A renewing allowance: Nectar resets 15 messages and 10 images every day, DreamBF's daily allowance grows the more days in a row you log in, Chai's daily check-in pays the pieces each message costs, and CrushOn renews 100 credits every month. And free with an unpublished cap: Nomi and My Dream Boy let you chat without paying but do not say where the limit is.
What none of them gives free is the full product. The free plans run smaller models, shorter context or fewer images, and the paid tiers exist to remove exactly those limits.
Free chat, paid pictures
Adult text is where free plans are generous. Adult images are where they stop. Janitor AI and CrushOn do not generate images at all, Nomi bans explicit images on every plan, and Chai bans explicit images and video under its terms. The companion sites that do make pictures, such as Nectar and My Dream Boy, give free users a small daily number and sell the rest.
If pictures are the point, expect to pay; if text roleplay is, a free plan can last indefinitely.
Character platforms or a companion of your own
Janitor AI, SpicyChat, CrushOn and Chai are character platforms: large libraries of characters written by other users, where you move between scenarios. Nectar, DreamBF, My Dream Boy and Nomi are companion sites, where you build or choose one partner and keep talking to them.
The platforms are more generous free, because a library of user-made characters is cheap to run on a small model. The companion sites ration free use more tightly but remember more about you and add voice and pictures.
What free costs you in privacy
A free plan is paid for somehow. Several apps here show ads to free users, and several say in their privacy policies that chats can be used to train or improve their models, including Nomi, Chai and CrushOn. SpicyChat's terms reserve the right to use, sell and license the content generated in chats. Each app's safety page quotes its policy.
Whatever you choose, sign up with an email address you use for nothing else and keep real names and photos of real people out of adult chats.
How to make a free plan last
On the unlimited platforms, the free model is the limit, not a message count. Shorter, clearer messages and a well-written character description get more out of a small model than long paragraphs do, and starting a fresh chat helps when a long one starts to forget details.
On the daily-allowance sites, the allowance resets each day, so a few messages every evening goes further than one long session. DreamBF rewards that directly: its free allowance grows by one message for every day in a row you log in, up to a ceiling, and drops back if you miss a day. Spend free images on the moments you care about, since they run out first.
Apps left off and why
Kindroid offers only a one-time preview and a trial since its free Lite model was retired on October 1, 2026. Candy AI allows five messages per character, HeraHaven 28 messages in total and Kupid AI 15, and none of those allowances comes back. Muah AI has a free option but publishes no limit. Those apps are covered in our NSFW list and their own reviews.
Prices, alternatives and safety for each app
How we chose
We read the pricing pages, help centres and terms of every adult-capable app we track and kept the ones whose own documents describe a free plan that renews or never runs out, then dated each limit. Store ratings set the order because the apps cannot write them; our rubric score, built only from published facts, sits in the table.
