About CompanionHunt
CompanionHunt is an independent review and comparison site for AI companion apps: character chat, AI girlfriend and boyfriend apps, roleplay platforms, and the general-purpose chatbots people use as companions. Adult (18+) apps are covered alongside the rest.
What you get here
For every app we cover: what it costs on each platform, what the free tier really allows, what its own content policy says about adult content, who runs it, what its privacy policy says about your chats, and a dated timeline of every price, model and policy change we have recorded. Each of those facts links to the page it came from and carries the date we checked it.
Prices, policies and free tiers in this category change without notice. A review that was right in spring can be wrong by autumn, so we date every fact rather than the page.
Who is behind it
CompanionHunt is not owned by, or paid by, any AI companion company. Pages are published under the byline CompanionHunt Research. Research is compiled with AI assistance, and every price, policy and date is checked against the primary source linked on the page before it is published. The full process is on the methodology page.
How the site is funded
Some links to apps are affiliate links: if you sign up through one, the app may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. That is the only way the site earns money. Rankings and scores come from published facts, never from payouts, and no app can pay to be listed, ranked or reviewed. The programmes we belong to are listed on the affiliate disclosure page.
How apps are chosen
We cover the apps people search for and ask about, plus newer apps that publish enough about their pricing and policies for us to verify. Apps that shut down keep their page, marked as retired, because people still search for them and deserve to know what happened. You can suggest an app through the contact page; every suggestion is checked before it appears.
Adult content
Apps that allow adult content carry an 18+ label. We describe what their policies allow in plain, non-explicit language and never show explicit images. App artwork comes from each app's own website or store listing.
Corrections and contact
If a fact on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact page. We check it against the source, fix the page, and record the correction with its date.
