SpicyChat AI and its alternatives side by side

Prices and policies come from each app's own page, dated on its review. Scores follow our published rubric.

When to stay with SpicyChat AI

you like its editable memory and conversation images, you are happy in the browser, and its age checks do not get in your way. Few character platforms let you pin and edit memories as directly as SpicyChat's Memory Manager.

Why people look for a SpicyChat alternative

Four reasons come up. There is no iPhone app since Apple removed it in 2025. The September 2026 price rise made every plan dearer. The free tier's short context forgets stories quickly. And in several countries and 26 US states, adult content now needs a selfie or ID check. Add the terms, which let SpicyChat use, sell and license chat content, and some users want somewhere else.

Each app below solves at least one of those, and none solves all of them.

Character platforms versus companions

Three of the picks are character platforms like SpicyChat: Janitor AI, CrushOn and Chai each host huge libraries of user-written characters, and the move is easy because characters are defined the same way, with a personality and a scenario in writing. Kindroid, Nomi and Candy AI are companion apps: you build one character, or a few, and the app is designed to remember you and keep a relationship going.

If you liked SpicyChat for variety, stay with a platform. If what you valued was its memory manager and you mostly talk to one character, a companion app will probably suit you better, since memory, voice and images of your character are what those apps are built around.

If you want an app on your phone

CrushOn has official apps on both stores, under other names that its website links to. Chai, Kindroid and Nomi are built around their mobile apps. Janitor AI has an official app too, though it filters adult content until you change a setting on the website.

If the price is the problem

Janitor AI's free tier is the strongest in the category, and its single paid plan has no credits. CrushOn's yearly Standard plan is one of the cheapest paid routes on this site, though its better models use credits. Nomi's yearly plan is also low for what it includes.

If you want voice calls

SpicyChat's voice is playback of written replies, only on I'm All In. Kindroid and Nomi document live, two-way voice calls. If talking is what you want, those are the two to try.

Voice changes what a companion is for. A call suits winding down at the end of the day or company while doing something else, where reading a long reply does not. If that is how you would use it, check each app's free allowance for calls before paying: Kindroid, for example, limits free voice to a fixed number of audio characters.

If privacy is the problem

Compare the privacy line on each app's safety page before moving long chats. Janitor AI, Kindroid, Nomi and Candy AI all say they do not sell personal data; Nomi and Candy AI say chats may be used to train or improve their models. No app on this list matches the breadth of SpicyChat's licence over chat content.

What the table compares

The table puts SpicyChat and each alternative side by side: the cheapest paid plan as a monthly figure, including yearly plans divided by twelve, the free tier on one common scale, the adult content policy and the CompanionHunt score. Every price comes from the app's own pricing page or in-app paywall and carries its check date on the app's review. Scores are calculated only from published facts, never from affiliate payouts.
