DarLink AI in the app: what we found
We used the fixed script we run on every app: four personal facts in the first two messages (a name, a home city, a dog's name and a birthday), small talk, then a recall question at message 18. We ran it on Janelle Grey, one of the four starter chats listed under Chat on a new account, chosen as the plainest companion-style opener. The free allowance ended long before message 18, so there is no memory result. We also read the plan page, the token page and the account settings.
- The free allowance
- On our check account the free chat stopped after one reply. A pop-up read "More Fun Awaits. You've reached 5 free messages. Upgrade now to unlock access to chats, photos, and videos.", with a Subscribe Now button. We don't know whether that was a one-off or how DarLink counts free messages. The profile page shows no free-message or token balance.
- The plan page
- The plan page has Monthly, Quarterly ("Save 15%") and Yearly ("Save 44%") tabs, with an "Offer ends in" countdown above the prices. Each card leads with a price per day and gives the monthly price under it; on the Quarterly and Yearly tabs the Monthly tab's per-day price is shown struck through beside the new one. The cards show the per-month price; the table below adds what each term is billed in full. Advanced carries a "-32% · Most popular" badge and Ultimate "Everything unlocked". Yearly cards add a Pay with Crypto button.
- Token packs
- The token page says "Tokens are used for generating images, videos, and interacting with AI characters." It sells six packs, from 100 to 7,500 tokens; their prices are in the table above. Every pack but the smallest is shown beside a struck-through higher price with a "Save 20%", "Save 30%" or "Save 50%" badge, the 50% badges on the two largest packs. Each can be paid by card or crypto.
- Memory by plan
- The plan page's FAQ describes three memory levels: "Basic memory: your AI Companion remembers the essentials during your sessions. Enhanced memory: she keeps your preferences in mind from one session to the next. Living memory: a persistent and evolving memory that adapts over time". Essential has basic, Advanced enhanced and Ultimate living memory.
- Paying and cancelling
- The plan page's FAQ says "Credit/debit cards work for both monthly and annual subscriptions. Crypto payments are also available, but only for annual plans and without auto-renewal." and "If you cancel, your access remains active until the end of the paid period." The subscription settings page has a Cancel Subscription button and notes "Changes to your subscription will take effect at the next billing cycle".
- NSFW setting
- Settings, Preferences, Content & maturity has an SFW / NSFW switch, set to SFW on the new account: "NSFW shows explicit content and requires you to be 18 or older." The same page sets an art style and preferred character tags, including a Friend relationship.
- Deleting the account
- Settings, Account has a Delete Account option: "This will permanently delete your account and all associated data, including all characters you've created and conversations. This action cannot be undone."

What 1-2 star reviewers complain about
We found only 8 one- and two-star reviews of DarLink AI in the twelve months to (Trustpilot), too few to say what people complain about most.
What DarLink AI is
DarLink is a companion builder rather than a community character library. You pick a companion's appearance, background, personality, interests and voice, then talk to her one to one. A gallery of ready-made companions sits on the home page for people who would rather not build their own, and every companion can send pictures, short video clips and voice messages as well as text.
It runs only in a web browser. There is no DarLink AI app on the US App Store, and a Google Play listing that search results still point to no longer loads. On a phone you use the website, which is laid out for mobile screens. That puts it in the same group as Candy AI and HeraHaven, which also skip the app stores, and apart from Kindroid or Nomi, which have native apps.
Plans, coins and the free account
There are three paid plans. Essential is the entry plan, with a monthly message allowance, basic memory and six standard voices. Advanced raises the message allowance, adds enhanced memory, ten premium voices and faster replies. Ultimate removes the message cap, adds living memory and what the plan page calls an elite roleplay engine. Each plan also grants a monthly batch of coins: Advanced gets three times as many as Essential, Ultimate five times.
Pictures and videos are paid for separately from messages. The plan page prices an image at two tokens and a video at twenty, so a video costs ten times as much as a picture. Extra tokens come in six packs on the token page, from 100 to 7,500 tokens, payable by card or crypto; the table above lists their prices. The site uses the words coins and tokens for the same balance.
Every plan is sold monthly, quarterly or yearly, and the longer terms cut the monthly equivalent on every plan, most sharply on Ultimate. The cards show the per-month price; the table above gives what each quarterly and yearly term is billed in full. Yearly plans can also be paid in crypto, which does not renew automatically. The plan page shows an "Offer ends in" countdown above the prices.

Memory, voice, images and video
Memory is tied to the plan. The plan page explains the three levels: basic memory covers the essentials within a session, enhanced memory keeps your preferences from one session to the next, and living memory is described as persistent and evolving, meant for long-running relationships and roleplay. If continuity matters to you, the Ultimate plan is the one that documents it.
Voice on DarLink means voice messages from your companion, with a choice of voices that widens on the higher plans. No live voice calls are documented, which sets it apart from apps such as Kindroid that sell calling as a feature.
Images and short videos of your companion are the main draw beyond chat. Both are generated on request and paid in tokens from the monthly grant or from top-ups.
Content rules
The plan page answers the NSFW question directly: adult content is allowed on every plan, provided it is legal and consensual with no minors, and requests that break the rules are blocked automatically. The site's own menus link to adult chat and adult image pages, so this is plainly an adult product.
Its terms of service list what is banned outright: sexual content involving minors, bestiality, rape and other extreme sexual violence, as well as hate, encouragement of self-harm and illegal content. They also say the service is meant for mature audiences.
Who runs it, privacy and payments
DarLink is run by FameLink SA, a Swiss company in the federal commercial register with its address in Montsevelier in the canton of Jura. The terms apply Swiss law with arbitration in Geneva for users outside the United States, and New York law with consumer arbitration in New York for US users.
The privacy policy says DarLink does not sell or rent personal data, and it documents account deletion from settings or through support. It says chats may be used to train its AI models, giving training on anonymised conversation data as an example, and doesn't describe an opt-out. It also says some residual data, such as backup archives, may remain until those archives are overwritten or deleted.
On paying and cancelling, the plan page's FAQ says cards work for every term and crypto only for yearly plans, without auto-renewal, and that "If you cancel, your access remains active until the end of the paid period." The refund policy lists three cases for a refund: fraudulent charges, a termination by DarLink without cause, and platform or billing errors on its side; it says a change of mind or a user's own cancellation is not one of them.
Who DarLink AI suits, and who it doesn't
Suits: adults who want to design one companion and receive pictures, short videos and voice messages from her in a browser, and who are willing to pay for a quarterly or yearly plan to get a lower monthly price.
Look elsewhere if: anyone under 18, people who want a phone app from the App Store or Google Play, or anyone who needs live voice calls. Kindroid and Nomi have native apps, document long-term memory and offer voice calls.
