How Candy AI charges: a subscription plus tokens

Candy AI's pricing has two layers. The subscription, called Premium, is what lets you keep chatting after the free five messages: text chat becomes unlimited and never costs tokens. Tokens are the second layer. They pay for everything visual or spoken: generating an image, turning an image into a short video, listening to a voice message, voice calls, unlocking My Private Content photo packs, creating a custom character, and some Live Action scenes.

Every Premium subscriber gets 100 tokens a month, credited on the day of the month they first subscribed. When those run out, chat keeps working, but the site prompts you to buy more before it will make another picture. Your real monthly cost is therefore the subscription plus however many top-ups your image habit needs.

Monthly, quarterly or yearly: which term to pick

All three terms buy the same Premium features and the same 100 tokens a month. Only the billing changes. The quarterly plan is advertised at 35 percent off the monthly rate, and the yearly plan at 70 percent off. In practice a full year on the yearly plan costs about as much as three and a half months on the monthly plan. Signed in on a free account, the monthly plan was offered with a lower first month; the plans table in the section on what the app showed gives the figure.

The yearly plan is not an introductory offer that jumps up later: the checkout says each plan renews automatically for the same price and term. The terms of service do allow Candy to raise prices, with notice before the renewal. Yearly subscribers still receive their tokens month by month rather than all at once, so a year's allowance cannot be spent in the first week.

The risk with yearly is the refund rule. You have 24 hours to ask for your money back, and only if you have used 20 tokens or fewer. Anyone unsure should use the free messages first and then choose, rather than count on a refund.

What Premium Plus adds

Premium Plus is a higher tier that Candy's help centre describes but the public subscriptions page does not price. It raises the monthly allowance to 330 tokens, gives a 10 percent token bonus on top-ups to quarterly and yearly subscribers, opens new characters three days early, and adds user personas, 20 memory slots and up to five cloned chats.

Because its price only appears in checkout after you sign in, it is not in the table above. If you generate images most days, compare its checkout price with Premium plus top-ups: 230 extra tokens a month is the main thing you are paying for.

Buying extra tokens

Top-ups are sold on a tokens page that only opens once you are signed in, and Candy does not publish pack sizes, pack prices or how many tokens each image or minute of voice costs. Its homepage adds that a more detailed custom character uses more tokens. The only figure Candy puts on a token in public is in its referral programme, where a premium user and the friend they invite each get 200 tokens once the friend subscribes.

Tokens cannot be transferred to another account or exchanged for money. Token packs bought by card can be refunded within 24 hours, and only if none of the tokens have been used.

Paying, billing and cancelling

Candy takes cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer and cryptocurrency for both subscriptions and tokens. Whatever the method, the charge appears on statements as EverAI, not as Candy. Because there is no store app, every purchase is made on the website, never through Apple or Google.

To cancel, open My Profile, then Settings, and press Unsubscribe; Premium runs to the end of the period already paid. There is no pause option. Deleting your account also cancels an active subscription. Plan to spend leftover tokens before a cancelled plan ends, because the terms of service say unused tokens expire at that point, even though one help-centre article says the balance is kept.

Users in the EU and UK have a 14-day right to withdraw from their first purchase, minus the value of what they used, but not from renewals.
