Tipsy Chat removed from the App Store: is it down, and what still works

Yes. Tipsy Chat's iPhone app, Tipsy Chat: Live Your Story, is no longer on the App Store. On October 30, 2026 its US page returned Not Found and Apple's own lookup found no listing in the US or 52 other storefronts we tried. It was last saved live on October 10. Tipsy has not said why. The app is not down: it is still on Google Play, and tipsy.chat loads in a browser.

Looking for something else on your iPhone?

Tipsy itself still runs on Android and at tipsy.chat. For an iPhone app instead, Character.AI and Talkie (listed as Talkie Lab) were on the App Store on October 30, and so were Janitor AI and CrushOn (listed as Crushmash), which allow adult content. The two picks below lead our guide to PolyBuzz alternatives, written for another character app that left the App Store this month.

  1. Character AI Web, iOS, Android

The biggest character library and the safest bet on an iPhone: its App Store app is live, free chat has no per-reply charge and no daily cap, and every account gets voice calls, group chats and memory tools (pins, Story Memory).

  2. Talkie Web, iOS, Android

The closest match in feel: a character community with voice calls, image generation and collectible cards, free with ads, and on the App Store as Talkie Lab.

Tipsy Chat's iPhone app can no longer be downloaded from the App Store. Nobody announced it: users noticed it missing from App Store search around October 22, and on October 30 we confirmed it is gone from every storefront we tried. This page sets out what we found, what still works, and what to do about a subscription paid through Apple.

Status on October 30, 1:02 p.m. Eastern: not on the App Store in the US or any of the 52 other storefronts we tried, including the UK, Canada and Australia, and no new listing from the same developer. Still on Google Play, with an update dated October 30. The website at tipsy.chat loads. Neither Tipsy nor Apple has said anything that we could find.

What happened

Tipsy's iPhone app was listed as Tipsy Chat: Live Your Story, with the subtitle "AI Stories & RPG", sold by Lightspeed Intelligence Pte. Ltd., the Singapore company named in Tipsy's terms of service. When the Internet Archive saved the US listing on October 8, it carried Apple's 18+ age rating, an average of 4.6 stars from about 11,700 ratings, the number 27 spot in the Lifestyle chart, and version 1.4.10 from October 1.

That US copy, saved at 12:07 p.m. Eastern on October 8, is the newest of 12 the archive holds since July 2025, and every one of them shows the app live. The archive also saved the Canadian listing, still on sale and still on version 1.4.10, at 10:12 p.m. Eastern on October 10. That is the last time we can show the app available anywhere.

The first public sign we found came on the morning of October 23, when a user on r/CharacterAI asked whether others had noticed that Tipsy Chat had not shown up in App Store search since the day before.

On October 30, at 12:32 p.m. Eastern and again at 1:02 p.m., Apple's own app lookup returned no listing for Tipsy in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and 49 other storefronts, among them Ireland, New Zealand, India, Germany, France, Japan, Brazil and Mexico. The App Store page returns Not Found in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and France. The developer's App Store page still exists but lists no apps, and an App Store search for Tipsy shows nothing from the same seller under a new name.

We cannot give the exact day it left. Apple does not publish removal dates, and our change watch did not follow Tipsy before October 30. What the record shows is a window: live on the evening of October 10, missing from search by October 22, gone from every storefront we tried by October 30.

What Tipsy and Apple have said

Nothing that we could find, as of October 30. Tipsy's website and store listings carry no notice about the iPhone app, and Apple does not usually explain removals. From the outside, an app that Apple removes and an app its developer withdraws look the same.

Tipsy is one of three character-chat apps to leave the App Store this month, with PolyBuzz on October 15 and Chai on October 22. On October 16 Apple rewrote its rule on user-generated content to name AI apps. Neither Apple nor Tipsy has linked that change to Tipsy's removal, and we do not know whether Tipsy left before or after it. We will add any statement here with its date.

What still works

  • Android: Tipsy is on Google Play as Tipsy: Live Your Story, with the same description as the old iPhone listing and Tipsy's own support address. On October 30 it loaded from the US, the UK, Canada and Australia, rated Mature 17+, with over a million downloads, an average of 4.0 from about 58,000 ratings, and an update dated that day. Google Play showed it at number 7 among top-grossing entertainment apps.
  • The web: tipsy.chat loads its character feed in a browser, so on an iPhone you can try it in Safari. We did not sign in, so we cannot say what carries over from the app.
  • Tipsy already on your iPhone: Tipsy has not said whether installed copies keep working, and we have not checked one. If yours still opens, don't delete it to reinstall: the App Store cannot download it again for now.

If you pay through the App Store

A Tipsy plan bought on an iPhone is an Apple subscription. Tipsy's own subscription FAQ says to cancel it in the iPhone's Settings, under your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and warns that deleting the app does not cancel it. The same FAQ says App Store refunds are Apple's decision, requested at reportaproblem.apple.com, and that subscription benefits are tied to the store account you bought them with. It does not say whether an iPhone plan carries over to Android or the web.

What we updated

The changes log and our table of AI companion shutdowns and store removals now record Tipsy's removal. Our change watch checks the listing twice a day from October 30, so if the app comes back we will add the date here.

Frequently asked questions

Was Tipsy Chat removed from the App Store?

Yes. On October 30, 2026 Apple's app lookup found no listing for Tipsy Chat: Live Your Story in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia or 49 other storefronts we tried, its App Store page returned Not Found, and its developer's App Store page listed no apps. It had been live in the US on October 8 and in Canada on October 10.

Why was Tipsy Chat removed from the App Store?

Nobody has said. We found no statement from Tipsy on its website or its store listings, and Apple does not usually explain removals. Apple rewrote its App Store rule on user content, naming AI apps, on October 16, but neither company has linked that to Tipsy. We will add any explanation here with its date.

Is Tipsy Chat down?

No. Only the iPhone listing is gone. The Android app is on Google Play, with an update dated October 30, and the website at tipsy.chat loads its characters in a browser.

Is Tipsy Chat still on the Play Store?

Yes. It is listed on Google Play as Tipsy: Live Your Story, with the same description as the old iPhone listing and Tipsy's own support address. It loaded from the US, the UK, Canada and Australia on October 30, rated Mature 17+, with over a million downloads.

When did Tipsy Chat leave the App Store?

Some time between October 10 and October 22, 2026. The Internet Archive saved the Canadian listing live on the evening of October 10, and on the morning of October 23 a Reddit user wrote that Tipsy had been missing from App Store search since the day before. Apple's records do not show the exact day.

Can you use Tipsy Chat on an iPhone now?

You can open tipsy.chat in Safari, which shows the same character feed. We did not sign in there, so we cannot say what carries over from the app. If the app is already on your phone, don't delete it: you cannot download it again from the App Store for now. Tipsy has not said whether installed copies keep working.

What happens to a Tipsy subscription bought on an iPhone?

It is an Apple subscription. Tipsy's subscription FAQ says to cancel it in the iPhone's Settings, under your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and that deleting the app does not cancel it. Refunds for App Store purchases are decided by Apple.

Is Tipsy Chat coming back to the App Store?

Tipsy has not said. Our change watch checks the listing twice a day from October 30, so if it returns we will see it within hours and add the date here.
