SpicyChat updates: every change since July 2026, newest first
SpicyChat's latest update, on November 5, 2026, brought back the old message-deletion flow after users found they could not delete messages. On November 4 it fixed favorites and sorting bugs, and on November 3 a Memory Manager rework began rolling out. Rulebooks reached paid subscribers on October 28, and prices last rose on September 8. Every change since July is below, newest first, each linked to SpicyChat's own post.

SpicyChat does not keep a changelog. It announces changes on its subreddit and Discord, its staff explain smaller ones in replies, and its help center is updated later, if at all. This page collects them in one place, newest first. Each date is US Eastern time, and each entry links to SpicyChat's own post or help page. Our change watch reads r/SpicyChatAI twice a day, and we add to this page when SpicyChat announces a change.
November 2026
- November 5: the old way to delete messages is back. On November 4 users reported that deleting a message in a chat did nothing: the remove button showed, but the message stayed. On phones the delete step had changed to a confirmation at the top of the screen. Early on November 5 a SpicyChat staff member said an update had been pushed "to bring back the old message-deletion flow", and that you may need to clear your browser cache for it to apply. (Staff reply)
- November 4: favorites and sorting fixes; a beta feature pulled. A SpicyChat staff member said an update had been pushed that "smooths out some of the bugs reported regarding the favorites and some sorting related issues". If your chats show up out of order afterwards, staff suggest closing all SpicyChat tabs, clearing your browser cache and opening SpicyChat again. The same night, a user asked why the Chat Personalizer had disappeared; staff replied that "There was a big issue during the release, and it had to be pulled out to be fixed", and that it is part of SpicyChat's beta testing program, so feedback goes to the beta channels on its Discord. SpicyChat has not said when it will return. (Staff reply on favorites, staff reply on the beta feature)
- November 3: Memory Manager rework rolling out. A SpicyChat staff member said a rework of the Memory Manager is being rolled out. Memories are now generated only once a chat is near its context limit, from the messages that will be cut from the context on the next turn. SpicyChat says this prevents duplicate memories and wrong recall when the AI gives a memory more weight than a message still in the chat, and that more details will follow. It came after users asked why new memories had stopped appearing. You can still add, edit, pin and delete memories by hand. The Memory Manager is for Get A Taste, True Supporter and I'm All In subscribers, and its help page did not yet describe the change on November 4. (Staff reply)
October 2026
- October 29: the 2,000 favorites limit is reverted. An update the day before had limited favorites to 2,000 chatbots. SpicyChat said it agreed this was not the right way to handle large collections, reverted it so favorites work as before, and apologized. It plans better organization and Collections for large Favorites libraries instead. (Announcement)
- October 28: Rulebooks for paid subscribers. Rulebooks keep score in a chat with meters for things like affection, trust, HP, gold, dice and time, and the character can act differently as they move. Paid subscribers can use and create them now; SpicyChat said free users would get them over the coming weeks. Public Rulebooks are in the main menu, and the Narrow by Feature filter finds characters that have one. (Announcement, guide)
- October 21: the Android app may need a reinstall to update. After a fix to the app's signature, staff told Android users to download the latest build from SpicyChat's website and to uninstall the older app if it would not update directly. (Staff reply)
- October 16: MiMo V2.6 Pro. A new 1-trillion-parameter model for I'm All In subscribers, which SpicyChat pitches for natural dialogue, banter and stories that move forward on their own. (Announcement)
- October 14: Lorebooks in group chats. Each group can now have one shared Lorebook, alongside each chatbot's own. The same update added a Narrow by Feature filter (characters with Lorebooks, voices or custom voices), kept selected tags visible above results, let you search Lorebooks by creator, and sped up the Android app on lower-end phones. (Announcement)
- October 1: Public Lorebooks. Lorebooks, which add world and character details to the context when a keyword comes up, can now be published after review, shared, favorited and attached to other people's chatbots. (Announcement, guide)
September 2026
- September 8: new prices take effect. All three paid tiers went up for new subscriptions, as announced on August 27. Recurring subscriptions started before then keep their old price while they stay active on the same tier. Today's prices, and how they changed, are on our SpicyChat pricing page. (SpicyChat's pricing FAQ)
- September 8: 32K context on six more models for I'm All In: Qwen Plus Character, GLAM 5.1, DeepSeek V4 Pro, DeepSeek V3, DeepSeek V3 XTC and GLAM 4.6. SpicyChat warned that some may reply more slowly at peak hours. (Announcement) Earlier that day SpicyChat reported that DeepSeek V3 was temporarily unavailable at its provider, with requests sent to V4 instead. (Alert)
- September 2: 32K context for I'm All In. The longest context memory doubled from 16K to 32K tokens, at first on the Default and Glam Arcturus models. SpicyChat's rough guide is about twice as many earlier messages kept in memory. (Announcement, tokens and context)
August 2026
- August 27: price rise announced for September 8, with GPU costs given as the reason. Free users could subscribe before then to keep the old recurring price. (Announcement)
- August 25: sign-in problem. Some users were logged out and could not sign back in. SpicyChat posted the alert at 1:23 p.m. Eastern and said it was resolved at 2:17 p.m. (Resolved)
- August 18: Qwen Plus Character is back for I'm All In, after SpicyChat took it down to make it run more reliably. (Announcement)
- August 12: fixes. Android's Recommendations page shows personal For You picks again, and Free and Get A Taste users can again generate persona avatars on desktop and mobile web, not only upload them. (Weekly update)
- August 3: Qwen Character Plus, a roleplay model built to stay closer to a character's persona over long scenes, for I'm All In. (Announcement)
July 2026
- July 30: Zeta G4 joins the Default model. Default moved from an 8B to a 26B model, and the previous default, Lyra Spiced, became its own option. Chats can now be sorted by recent, oldest or most active, a failed message stays as a draft, and voice playback is hidden on bot messages over 2,000 characters. (Weekly update)
- July 23: conversation access fix. Users no longer lose their chats when a character is made private or removed; SpicyChat said the loss was a bug, not a policy. Favorites got a separate Groups tab, one-time payers got a read-only Manage Subscription page, and WizardLM 144B was retired. (Weekly update)
- July 9: Zeta-G4-26B, a new free model. A 26B model for free and Get A Taste users, which SpicyChat calls a big step up from its previous free models while noting it is weaker at complex multi-character scenes and long-term memory. (Announcement, AI models)
- July 3: small creator edits skip review. Changes limited to tags, a voice, a Lorebook or two display toggles now apply at once instead of waiting for manual moderation. (Weekly update)
What has not changed
The free tier is the same as in our review: chat is free with no published message cap, the context window is 4,096 tokens and replies are capped at 180 tokens, with ads. SpicyChat still has no iPhone app; it runs in Safari and can be added to the home screen, and the Android app installs from spicychat.ai rather than Google Play (mobile apps). The SpicyChat alternatives guide compares the apps people move to, and the changes log records changes across every app we cover.

Frequently asked questions
What is the latest SpicyChat update?
A bug fix. Early on November 4, 2026 SpicyChat's staff said an update had smoothed out bugs with favorites and some sorting issues; if chats look out of order afterwards, they suggest closing every SpicyChat tab, clearing the browser cache and opening it again. The bigger change is the day before: on November 3 SpicyChat said it was rolling out a Memory Manager rework, so new memories are made only when a chat nears its context limit, from the messages about to drop out of it.
Why has SpicyChat stopped saving memories?
Most likely because of the Memory Manager rework SpicyChat described on November 3, 2026. New memories are now generated only when a chat is near its context limit, so a shorter chat may show none: while every message still fits in the context, SpicyChat says the Memory Manager is not needed. If memories still do not appear once older messages start dropping out, SpicyChat's staff ask users to open a ticket at support.spicychat.ai.
Did SpicyChat limit how many chatbots you can favorite?
Only for about a day. An update on October 28, 2026 capped favorites at 2,000 chatbots; on October 29 SpicyChat said this was not the right way to handle large collections and reverted it. It says better organization and Collections for large Favorites libraries are coming instead.
What are SpicyChat Rulebooks?
Rulebooks add meters to a chat, such as affection, trust, HP, gold, dice or time, that rise and fall with what happens in the roleplay, so a character can change how it behaves as the score moves. Since October 28, 2026 paid subscribers can use and create them; SpicyChat said it would roll them out to everyone, including free users, over the following weeks.
When did SpicyChat last raise its prices?
On September 8, 2026, when all three paid tiers went up for new subscriptions. SpicyChat announced it on August 27. Subscribers who already had an active recurring plan kept their old price for as long as it stays active on the same tier. Today's prices are on our SpicyChat pricing page.
How do you update the SpicyChat app?
On Android, download the latest APK from spicychat.ai/download; the app is not on Google Play. SpicyChat's staff said on October 21, 2026 that after a fix to the app's signature you may need to uninstall the older app if it will not update directly. On iPhone there is no app to update: Apple removed it in August 2025, and SpicyChat recommends adding the website to your home screen from Safari.
Where does SpicyChat announce its updates?
On its subreddit, r/SpicyChatAI, in posts flaired Announcement, Feature Release or Alerts, and on its Discord. Staff explain smaller changes in replies there. SpicyChat's help center has no changelog page apart from its September 2026 pricing FAQ, which is why we keep this log.
